The IEE MDM Users' Forum enables current IEE users, managers and IT support employees to meet with counterparts from other utilities as well as the Itron product team. We will discuss recent product changes, the IEE roadmap, how we are investing in the future of meter data management and open the floor for the exchange of best practices on operating and managing IEE.

This forum will detail how you can improve operational efficiency and maximize read rates, enhance network awareness, generate actionable intelligence, drive innovation and unlock new business value with Operations Optimizer. We will highlight applications based on the network-agnostic Operations Optimizer platform that include: AMI Operations, Meter Temperature Monitoring, Network Operations and Revenue Assurance as well as what is on the strategic roadmap in terms of solution enhancements. In addition, we will exchange best practices on operating, managing and deriving the most value out of these solutions.

Utilities need to better engage customers to achieve joint goals of improving customer satisfaction and optimizing grid operations using customer DERs.

This working group will create a collaborative and transparent forum to share methods, experiences, and plans to enhance customer experience by leveraging real-time data and Wi-fi connectivity at the edge. Customer and grid value, end-customer journeys (including interactions with Green Button), data privacy, and data security will be key topics.

This working group brings together utilities to share real-world connectivity success stories, explore best practices for multi-transport networking, and accelerate the deployment of resilient, scalable, and secure infrastructure in support of grid modernization, DER/EV integration, and consumer engagement.

Together, participants will address shared challenges around 5G transitions, long-term technology planning, and the evolving demands of grid operations. The group will explore how modern network architectures can drive efficiencies, reduce lifecycle costs, and support a wide range of utility use cases—from grid edge intelligence and distributed energy management (DEM) to advanced consumer applications.

Key focus areas include maintaining and optimizing current networks (Gen5, Riva ACT, CG Mesh, RF LAN, etc.) while developing future-ready connectivity strategies that align with utility business objectives.

Thursday, Oct. 30

The Outage Optimization Working Group brings together utilities that are currently utilizing or planning to implement Itron solutions for outage detection and management. Members share experiences and best practices to attain maximum performance and benefit from their systems. The agenda is set by the users who facilitate the meetings.

This team meets monthly throughout the year and discusses existing solutions that have been deployed.

• Comparing planned approaches to improve outage detection and management challenges
• Questions and feedback to Itron experts and product leadership

This is not your only chance to engage in these discussions. You also can participate in the newly formed GEIE Outage Improvement Working Group, which will meet on Wednesday, October 29.

Thursday, Oct. 30

The IPv6 working group is focused on the 2nd generation OpenWay CGMesh network. The group provides an environment to share the best practices and seek community support for IPv6-related system issues. It also serves as a forum for Itron and Cisco to communicate planned product updates, and to collect feedback from utilities to shape their product roadmaps.
